Cooks River Clean Up & Paddle Against Plastic

Last weekend the River Canoe Club of New South Wales held the Cooks River Clean Up & Paddle Against Plastic. In conjunction with the organisation “Ocean Crusaders”, the event was a massive success with over 3000kg of rubbish being removed from the Cooks River over the weekend’s course. Ocean Crusaders is a charity organisation that specialises in waterway cleaning on a large scale.

An amazing team effort, consisting of over 200 community members being involved in the clean up and they, as well as the wider community are now more aware of the issues regarding plastic waste and its immediate impact on the only their local environment but on a larger scale too.

It was a great community event, a great cause and The Plant Yard was proud to be a supporter. We were able to provide the River Canoe Club with necessary Traffic Management equipment, ensuring the day could run smoothly. The initiative demonstrated by the community to band together and better their environment is very commendable and The Plant Yard is looking forward supporting future initiatives which have such a positive impact on local communities.
